Geospatial Open Data Usage and Metadata Quality

چکیده
The Open Government Data portals (OGD), thanks to the presence of thousands geo-referenced datasets, containing spatial information are extreme interest for any analysis or process relating territory. For this happen, users must be enabled access these datasets and reuse them. An element often considered as hindering full dissemination OGD data is quality their metadata. Starting from an experimental investigation conducted on over 160,000 geospatial belonging six national international portals, work has its first objective provide overview usage measured in terms views downloads. Furthermore, assess possible influence metadata use assessment each dataset was carried out, correlation between two variables measured. results obtained showed a significant underutilization generally poor In addition, weak found metadata, not such assert with certainty that latter determining factor former.

Geospatial Data Quality Indicators
Indicators which summarise the characteristics of spatiotemporal data coverages significantly simplify quality evaluation, decision making and justification processes by providing a number of quality cues that are easy to manage and avoiding information overflow. Criteria which are commonly prioritised in evaluating spatial data quality and assessing a dataset’s fitness for use include lineage,...
متن کاملAssisted Generation and Publication of Geospatial Data and Metadata
Today, the existence of metadata is one of the most important keys for an effective discovery of geospatial data published in Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI). However, due to lack of efficient mechanisms, integrated in user daily workflow, to assist users in generating metadata, little metadata is produced. This paper presents a mechanism for generating and publishing metadata with a Publica...

The main standards now being implemented in the geospatial world emanate from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 211 Geomatics/Geographic Information (generally referred to as ‘TC 211’), in their 19xxx series of standards. Because some EU Member States have legal requirements that ‘European standards’ be used for various types of work, if they exist, th...
